- Enough sockets for connecting all your home entertainment equipment, plus a couple of spares
- Playback of multiple disc formats
- A subwoofer or LFE socket for upgrading to a powered subwoofer
- Brackets or stands to bring satellites up to ear height
Pros
- Instant theatre solution: just add TV
- Simple to setup
- Compact: perfect for small living rooms and apartments
Cons
- Small speakers and limited amplifier power means limited volume levels
- Upgrading can be difficult, or not an option at all
Running cable from the electronics at the front of the room to the speakers at the back of the room can be messy (you never see cables in ads for theatre systems!), but Pioneer's HTZ515DV gets around the problem by sending the sound wirelessly to its rear speakers. The system costs $1,399
