The Pure-Fi anywhere is a good example of a portable iPod dock - it comes with a carrying case, uses a rechargeable battery and is relatively compact, although not to the point where you could shove it in a pants pocket.

At the same time, it's not so small that the speakers have no quality at all, and the inclusion of a remote control and international travel adaptor makes it a great choice if you spend a lot of time in hotel rooms with only the local radio to entertain you.

Audio quality was reasonable except at the highest volumes, and predictably some of our lower quality music files sounded even more tinny through the Pure-Fi's speakers. We also noticed that when the Pure-Fi Anywhere wasn't plugged in (and thus tethered), some of the larger iPod models, such as the iPod Touch, had a tendency to tip the entire unit over. This isn't a problem if you're keeping it in the case, as it's on its back anyway.

At $229.95 the Pure-Fi Anywhere isn't a cheap portable solution by any stretch of the imagination, but if you care about your audio fidelity while you're travelling it's a decent buy.
