Philips have announced the availability of the latest additions to its highly successful first-to-market SoundBar family. Featuring a stylish design and Philips' proprietary Ambisound technology, the HTS8140 and HTS6100 deliver a remarkable, full multi-channel surround sound experience from a single speaker unit and a subwoofer. In addition, Philips is introducing a tabletop stand designed to complement the elegant look of the SoundBar and Philips Design Collection TV for the home theatre enthusiast.
A part of Philips' Design Collection, the rounded, elegant design of the HTS8140 fits effortlessly with any of Philips latest LCD TVs. The slim Soundbar has a flatter speaker system with a refinement of the angled driver positioning and touch screen controls. The HTS8140 also uses Philips FullSound - this is a dedicated Digital Signal Processor, which enhances compressed MP3 audio file quality, outputting a richer sound experience from MP3 data sources.
Standard format DVD discs are enhanced via true high definition video upscaling, which delivers super-sharp, 1080p video output. Screen imagery is further improved on the HTS8140 through the inclusion of the latest Faroudja DCDi technology, producing incredibly sharp, high quality video.
The HTS Soundbar series also includes EasyLink, allowing for easy control of connected devices via HDMI CEC. Portable personal music player functionality is optimised with the inclusion of an iPod dock for media playback with on-screen control. An MP3 link allows consumers to also play music from other portable music players. Connectivity is further augmented with a built-in USB Link, which enables photos and music output from USB flash drives.
The STS8001 SoundBar stand displays Philips' Design Collection signature products perfectly in a simple tabletop solution. The dedicated SoundBar and TV stands feature a swivel base and silver coloured design ensuring they fit comfortably into any viewing environment.
