Telstra today became the first Australian carrier to begin distributing the BlackBerry Bold smartphone to selected business customers. The world's most popular business mobile device (PDA) is now available on Telstra's Next G network.
Telstra's first shipment of BlackBerry Bold smartphones arrived in Australia over the weekend, flown in especially from Europe to meet high demand from customers.
Telstra Product Management Executive Director, Mr Ross Fielding said, "Customers using the BlackBerry Bold on the Next G network can make the most of its 3.6 Mbps download capability peak rating to browse the net, use 3G applications like Whereis Navigator, and handle large email attachments faster, in more places. This includes outside Australia where users can take advantage of the BlackBerry Bold smartphone's 3GSM Tri Band capability that provides seamless 3G coverage in many countries," he said.
The BlackBerry Bold has a recommended retail price of $999 and is available on various plans to suit enterprise and business customers' needs, including the $80 Phone Plan with $0 upfront for customers connecting for 24 months - the minimum cost on this plan is $1,920 plus usage - plan does not include email access).
Telstra has made available their email plan offer on the $89.95 BlackBerry email plan for customers connecting 24 months - the minimum cost is $2158.80 plus usage, with existing BlackBerry Enterprise Solution software including 200MB of data free for the first 2 months (excess usage charges apply - after 2 months standard PAYG charges apply).
