    Samsung UA55C9000 3D LCD TV

At $10,000, the Samsung UA55C9000 costs more than twice what an otherwise similarly specified, similarly sized, Samsung TV would sell for. So what’s so special about it? We reckon that several of the more extraordinary features justify that price.

While Bang & Olufsen has always offered custom installation, it has only now been able to demonstrate what such a solution might look and sound like. Flagship stores - commencing with the Paddington store in Sydney - in all states will now showcase the BeoLiving Concept - a dedicated luxury cinema room featuring BeoLab 5 loudspeakers, a BeoSystem 1 to control sound and picture and the BeoVision 4 plasma screen television.

This system is complemented by a Samsung DLP projector, Stewart Filmscreen screen a Lutron lighting system, with all operations - including the automatic descent and ascent of the projector and screen, the closing of curtains and the dimming of lights - pre-programmed into the company's Beo4 or Beo5 remote control for ease of use.

Bang & Olufsen says its partners in BeoLiving "supply the most advanced products in their respective fields". Samsung's SP-H700 was developed in co-operation with the American video projector specialist Joe Kane and is available in 720p and 1080p versions. The Stewart screens are available in sizes from 80 to 100 inches, as well as custom sizes, and feature GreyHawk surface technology that has been optimised for use with DLP sources.
Different Bang & Olufsen equipment can also be specified into a BeoLiving room, and as systems can be customised and installation requirements will differ from home to home, pricing is variable. Think $85,000 as a starting point.
