Freeview the catch-up and live free-to-air TV streaming has come to Apple TV and TV 4K.
Freeview FV delivers live streaming to mobile devices from 20 free-to-air channels and catch-up content from all free-to-air TV channels. The app also includes a TV guide, allows users to browse and search across all free-to-air TV, set favourites, and provides show recommendations.
Freeview CEO Liz Ross said the addition of Freeview FV for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV was the latest development for the platform and offers viewers even more choice in live and catch-up programs from the comfort of their own homes on their TV.
“We are thrilled to have Freeview FV now available in the App Store for Apple TV, making live streaming more accessible than ever.
“We want everyone in every household to be able to watch free-to-air TV on their terms, where and when they choose,” said Ross.
Launched in November 2016, Freeview FV is also available on iOS and Android mobile and tablets with Chromecast, many modern smart TVs, set-top boxes and now Apple TV.
Please be aware that Freeview FV uses broadband or mobile data. HD 1080 programs use approximately 1.6 GB per hour. SD 720 programs use approximately 585 MB per hour.
Does this work in other countries or just AU. Also seems a lot of angry reviews on iOS store — seems one needs to be a subscriber to the channels to be able to use this app so unsure of its value
The app will work with a VPN and an Australian point of presence from other countries. The app certainly has received a bad rap and apparently, 9 and 10 require you to download their own apps as well. My take – its free so try it. But be careful of data charges.
