Is it really worth it getting a fancy PC?

Hi, I am looking at getting a new PC but it looks like I can get one for way cheaper from a little shop around the corner instead of from Harvey Norman or a big store like that. So what is the difference?

Do you mean like from a systems integrator instead of from a brand name? PCs from systems integrators are cheap but they don't have very good warranties, plus you don't get bonus software or anything.

Definitely get a PC from your local store, you will save heaps and get way more power for games. Extra software is always rubbish anyway.

No that's wrong. Some of the software is cool. Like the photo album stuff and the TV recorder software.

Have you heard of downloading?

I had a Dell for ages and when it broke down under warranty I just sent it back and it got fixed. When my brother's PC broke the shop refused to look at it because he'd upgraded the video card.

What if you are someone who isn't that into PCs. I don't want to have to upgrade anything myself, I just want it to work when I switch it on. And I would be good if I could get stuff like TV and webcam and that stuff without having to go online and download a bunch of programs.

Definitely get a brand PC. Only gamers need to build their own.
