    Samsung UA55C9000 3D LCD TV

At $10,000, the Samsung UA55C9000 costs more than twice what an otherwise similarly specified, similarly sized, Samsung TV would sell for. So what’s so special about it? We reckon that several of the more extraordinary features justify that price.

The roaring success of the Nintendo Wii and its motion control method of interacting with games is having a ripple effect on its competitors. Microsoft has weighed in with the very exciting looking Project Natal, and now Sony has announced that it will in 2010 have a motion control device for the PlayStation 3. For now the device has been given the tentative name of Motion Controller, and it is slated for an Autumn 2010 release in the Southern Hemisphere.

Inside the Motion Controller is a three axes gyroscope and a three axes accelerometer, which detect hand angle and hand movement, and will work in conjunction with PlayStation Eye camera to control game action. It will also incorporate a 'rumble' feature, as used in the PlayStation DUALSHOCK controller, so in addition to controlling the game you'll also feel what's happening in your game through the vibration of the controller. The controller 'talks' to the PS3 via Bluetooth 2.0, and is powered by a Lithium-Ion rechargeable internal battery.

There are no price details as yet, but Sony has released a list of games being designed for the Motion Controller:

  • Ape Escape (Working Title)
  • Echochrome 2 (Working Title)
  • Eccentric Slider (Working Title)
  • Sing and Draw (Working Title)
  • Champions of Time (Working Title)
  • Motion Party (Working Title)
  • The Shoot (Working Title)
  • Tower (Working Title)
  • PAIN 2
  • Flower 2
  • Hustle Kings 2
  • High Velocity Bowling 2
  • EyePet 2
