“OK Google – read me a story”

Audiobooks on Google Play is now in Australia – in nine languages too – and it is ready to read you the latest bed time story or thrilling adventure.

Audiobooks can be read by any Google enabled Android smartphone or Google Home enabled speaker. You can skip from one device to the other. It also works on iOS, Chrome, Android Wear, Android Auto or a laptop.

Best of all you can buy a single audiobook at an affordable price, with no commitments. You can also get a free preview of the book to make sure you’re hooked by the story and enjoy listening to the narrator’s voice. You can share the audiobook too through its family library for free.

GadgetGuy’s take

The voice assistant wars are hotting up. Amazon was first to offer ‘audible’ audio books and now Google.

Audiobooks are great for the elderly, sight impaired or those who may have lot the pleasure of reading. New smart speakers make it very easy to access books although I prefer to glance at a laptop screen to select one.
