The Sony PSLX300USB USB Output Turntable isn't a high-end turntable, it's designed to be a quick and simple solution for the person who wants to get their ageing vinyl collection into a portable media player.
With an innovative take on mathematical theory, audio specialists Denon claim that you can get great 5.1 surround sound out of just two speakers. OK, we cheated a bit with the headline, because they claim you need the subwoofer as well, but the S-302 'Smart Theatre' employs Dolby Virtual and DTS Virtual to reproduce authentic-sounding surround with a minimum speaker footprint, for $2,999.
Looking a lot like a Media Centre PC, Denon's system incorporates an upscaling DVD player, Faroudja analog to HDMI upconversion, putting 1080p out over HDMI, has a powered sub with internal three-channel amplifier and a universal remote that will control your TV, cable and other devices.
The speakers come with table stands but can be wall mounted too, while an Ethernet port and built-in Wi-Fi with DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) capability means you can stream your audio files direct from your PC, Mac, or other compatible device.
