Sony 3D at a store near you

Consumers looking to sample 3D TV will soon be able to, with Sony to showcase its version of the technology at 14 retail locations across Australia by the end of May, starting with the Sony Centre World Square in Sydney.

Intended to highlight the company’s 3D televisions and Blu-ray players before they officially go on sale in July this year, the demonstrations will give buyers a taste of the in-home 3D experience, the equipment required and the price of a complete 3D system.

The PS3, which can be upgraded to support 3D, will also feature in demonstrations, as will a range of game, TV and movie content. These inlcude Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, PlayStation games and a clip from a FIFA football match.

Sony is a sponsor of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the Sony Open PGA Golf tournament, both of which will be recorded in 3D using Sony cameras and then displayed at select 3D sites.
