Sony looking to be first with Android 8.0 Oreo OS

Sony has announced that a whole raft of its phones will be receiving the next version of Android, 8.0 code-named Oreo, as it becomes available.

Well, more accurately, if less precisely, Sony says, “Software rollouts are a phased process, timing and availability will vary by market and/or operator. Most models supported by (sic) some operator/ market exceptions will apply.” The rollout will update the following models:

Android 8.0 Oreo was made available for general release on 21 August this year, timed for the recent US solar eclipse, Black cookie, blocked out sun. I think I get it.

The new version of Android is claimed to start up faster, provide more flexibility with notifications and improve battery life.
