LG at IFA was all about class, elegance, design and a lot of innovation with its luxury Signature range, an 88-inch 8K OLED, and an insight into the AI-powered future.
At LG at IFA 2019, Dr I.P. Park, president and Chief Technology Officer of LG Electronics, shared the company’s vision for an AI-powered future where Anywhere is Home. He discussed how innovations in AI and connectivity will expand the notion of home to every domain of living beyond the front door.
For example, LG has an intelligent learning concept which enables robot vacuum cleaners to avoid getting stuck in corners and obstacles. It is driven by LG’s proprietary AI chip for appliances which uses LG Neural Engine for on-device AI.
Or the need to go beyond voice. He introduced LG Styler with Vision Pack, a vision sensor connected to the cloud. Vision Pack can recognise items of clothing and make care and cleaning recommendations accordingly. He also introduced LG ThinQ Fit, an evolution of the Smart Mirror concept where 3D cameras accurately measure the user’s body size to generate a realistic avatar for virtual fittings.
“Evolve, Connect and Open are our standards for a kind of AI which will make life measurably better. It’s not just about improving what we’re doing now, but fundamentally transforming how we live and think,” Dr Park said.
LG’s NVIDIA G-SYNC TVs
LG has added support for NVIDIA G-SYNC to its 2019 4K OLED model 65/55E9, model 77/65/55C9 TVs. NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible testing ensures a smooth and immersive gaming experience without flickering, tearing or stuttering.
Along with infinite contrast and highly accurate colour reproduction, the TVs offer an ultra-fast response time with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Input lag – which can make the difference between victory and defeat – is barely perceptible at a six milliseconds range for 1440p content at 120 Hz and 13 milliseconds range for 4K content at 60 Hz. The minimal input lag of LG’s OLED TVs, of less than a frame, with no loss in picture quality, makes them the best displays for gaming.
LG’s OLED TV models support a variety of HDR formats that further elevate the gaming experience. Users can play compatible titles in dynamic HDR10 or Dolby Vision (at up to 120 frames per second for Full HD content) taking advantage of HDMI 2.1 specifications such as auto low latency mode (ALLM for Xbox), enhanced audio return channel (eARC), and variable refresh rate (VRR).
Audio formats include Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD lossless sound technology. These models also incorporate LG’s deep learning-based AI sound for captivating virtual 5.1 surround.

LG WS split system air conditioning range with voice connectivity
LG’s WS 2019 Split System, Air Conditioning range, enables households to perform a range of operational tasks with their voice using the Google Assistant app or a compatible smart speaker. Users can check the status of operations through the LG Smart ThinQ mobile app to monitor power consumption, control the temperature, filter information and diagnose problems.
