realme 6 – 90Hz gaming performance – unbelievable $469 price

realme 6

The new realme 6 provides high-performance gaming from its Helio G90T SoC and a smooth and responsive 6.5” 90Hz, 2400×1080 screen.

First, a little about realme. The realme 6 review will be a few more days.

realme was born out of OPPO although it strongly asserts its sibling independence. OPPO makes its phones, and they have the same quality and reliability that OPPO is famous for.

realme (yes, its lowercase) came to Australia last October. Its first four models represented superior value because it uses an online model only – no middlemen. These are on run-out – limited stocks. You can read reviews here.

In 2019 realme shipped 25 million handsets in 27 markets and is #7 in global smartphone market share (figures supplied by realme but impressive for a new brand). realme says it will rapidly bring new models to market as well as a range of wearables like buds and watches.

The first 2020 model is the C3 (review here) that at $269 is the most fully-featured mass-market phone you can buy.

Now it is the realme 6

“Users can go wild with the realme 6! This is the latest device to join our best selling series, the number series. It pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in smartphone capabilities and is the perfect option for both content creators and gamers.

“Throughout and beyond 2020 we will set our sights on delivering technology that provides Aussies with immersive entertainment and creativity at an affordable price. We are thrilled for users to discover the many capabilities and powerful performance of the realme 6.”

GadgetGuy’s take – realme 6 offers superior value and gaming performance for $469

Knowing the sub-$500 market well there is nothing to compare although its sibling OPPO has a compelling A91 with AMOLED but its not a gamers device.

If it stacks up as realme says it will, then it is going to be inordinately popular among mobile gamers.
