Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 builds on the successful new breed of Watch Active launched last May with new features and refinements.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 will arrive in Australia on 8 October in two sizes – 40 and 44mm and LTE/Wi-Fi/BT/NFC/GPS capable. The lower cost BT version comes in 44mm only.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 is more like a smartphone with a 30/34mm round Super AMOLED touch screen and a new faux ‘rotating-bezel’ with haptic feedback. It is capable of running a huge range of health, wellness and music apps. It also measures heart rate (via a new eight diode system), Electrocardiogram (ECG), sleep measurement, steps and stress levels.

Improved Samsung Health
The Galaxy Watch Active2 has more sensors to automatically track seven typical workouts, including running, walking, cycling, rowing machine, elliptical machine, swimmin and dynamic. It can also manually track another 32 workouts. The updated Running Coach monitor your real-time running pace with seven different goal-orientated running programs.
Real-time stress measurement via Calm – a guided meditation program – along with a leading four-stage sleep measurement monitoring aids night recovery.
It is all about providing users with actionable insights that can help you make positive lifestyle choices in your diet, exercise, mental health, sleep and more. Samsung makes it clear that it is not a medical or therapeutic grade measurement – it’s a guide to better wellness.
Other features
Both models have 4GB of storage (about 1.5GB free) to store music and will pair with BT headphones.
It also is part of the Samsung SmartThings ecosystem, meaning it can use Samsung Pay (NFC) and Bixby voice assistance (not Google) can navigate the watch features.
It has WPC based wireless charging (not Qi), so it needs the charging base (supplied), or it can use the reverse charging feature of the Galaxy S10-series.
My Style colour extraction algorithm can use an Android smartphone to take a photo of your outfit, choose from five different colour patterns change the watch face to match your personal style.
It is IP68 and waterproof to 5ATM (50 metres) and MIL-STD-810G rugged.
Target Market
The round Galaxy Active2 is more subtle and svelte than the larger and heavier Samsung Galaxy Watch. It also has later sensor technology than the Galaxy Active. It targets more of a health and wellness, fashion demographic.
