Alcatel MWC 2019 announcements highlight the company’s perfect products for the prepaid and value markets.
Alcatel’s calls it ‘democratising’ by bringing well-featured devices at affordable pricing to make them accessible to as many people as possible.
Perhaps that is why Alcatel remains the #3 ranked mobile phone provider by volume in Australia, a position it has held for each quarter of the last 3.5 years. In 2018, Alcatel sold close to 1 million devices in Australia.
TCL Communications owns Alcatel that also has screen/panel making factories and assembly to deliver good value handsets.
Alcatel 1 series
New for 2019 is the 1C and 1X with FullView 18:9, 960 x 480 screens, Wi-Fi N, Bluetooth and ‘social’ cameras and Android Go edition. These are the staple of the low entry price market.

Camera-wise it has dual rear cameras. The 13MP has f/2.0, 1.12µm and the 2MP bokeh depth
camera has f/2.8, 1.65µm with nine AI scene detections, Google Lens, HDR, EIS 1080p@30fps. The selfie is 5mP,
f.2.3 and 1.12µm, 720p@30fps. It is fixed focus, HDR, has a LED flash and
face beautification filters.
Add to that rear fingerprint sensor and Face Key facial recognition and hybrid dual sim and it’s a fair performer.
Alcatel 3 series
New for 2019 is the Alcatel 3 and 3L.
The 3 is an eight-core Snapdragon 439, 3/32GB and a 5.9”, 19.5:9 Super Full View display, 3500mAh battery and 13+5MP rear camera. The camera has 21 AI scenes.
The 3L uses a Snapdragon 429 four-core, 2/16GB, and the same camera.
Alcatel 3T 10 tablet
It is a Google Assistant tablet with a clip-on, Bluetooth mono, Audio-Station speaker module.
With an MT8765B four-core processor, 2/16G and micro-SD to 128GB it uses Android 9.0 to display Google Assistant features on its 10-inch, 1280×800 touch screen.
Models include Wi-Fi N dual and LTE options.
GadgetGuy suspects we will see a resurgence in basic Android tablets and docks acting as Google Assistant screens – its far better that way.
