Mixed reality (MR), a combination of augmented and virtual reality, is the current focus of HTC, fresh off announcing the Vive XR Elite headset.
One of the cool potential use cases is to help teach you how to play musical instruments, replete with a heads-up display showing helpful information. The device is also quite light, at just over 600 grams.
Tech expert, commentator, and podcaster Geoff Quattromani reported live from CES 2023, witnessing plenty of weird and wonderful gadgets along the way. There was plenty to like, but also some odd stuff too.
Up to 14% faster than the previous generation, the new Ryzen X3D processors boast some serious grunt for gamers, content creators, and anyone doing high-end processing tasks. At the top level, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D houses 16 cores, 32 threads, and a max boosted clock speed of 5.7 GHz.
There are plenty of CPU upgrades for laptop users as well, which companies like Alienware, Asus, Lenovo, and MSI will take full advantage of.
The Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA), whose membership comprises major appliance brands like LG and Samsung, launched its new connectivity standard: HCA Specification 1.0.
It's aimed at bridging different companies' cloud platforms, so you can use one brand's app on another's device. Plus, it'll aim to help increase the shelf life of home appliances without the need for major firmware updates, and assist with energy efficiency.
The new standard will work alongside the recently-launched smart home protocol Matter, which operates at a device-to-device level.
Roomba is set to have even tighter competition with Roborock, thanks to a new design feature in the latter's S8 Series of cleaning devices.
Alongside more suction power, the new robo vacs incorporate a dual rubber roller brush, similar to recent Roomba models. It's reportedly better at reducing tangles from hair, providing a better and more reliable clean.
TCL also had plenty of mobile tech to show at CES 2023, including the RayNeo X2, a pair of smart glasses that can provide live translation, provide directions, and function as a personal cinema the equivalent of a 130-inch screen.
There's also new NXTPAPER tablet and laptop technology, in addition to TCL's 40 series smartphones.
