Android hits 10 billion downloads, throws a big sale

We’re huge fans of saving money, and we’re pretty sure you are too. If you’re an Android user, there’s big savings to be had this week as Google throws a sale in honour of 10 billion downloads.

With the big 10 billion number reached, Google has cut prices of many of its popular apps down to 10 cents, bringing popular apps and games down to a ridiculously affordable price, including Sketchbook Mobile, Asphalt 6, Minecraft, and the excellent SwiftKey X keyboard.

The first day of Google's Android app sale.

Google tells us that this’ll be happening for ten days – from  but from what we’re seeing, the app selection may change on a daily basis for the next ten days, essentially giving you ten apps every day dropped to the price of ten cents.

The artwork on Google’s Android Market (above) leaves us to believe that both Need For Speed Shift and Fruit Ninja will be added to the pile in the coming days, so look forward to them. We sure are.
