Rumblings within the industry are tipping a March 2 announcement (March 3 in Australia) for the next version of the iPad, with a possible release one year after the first iPad was announced.

Expected to be launched next week and available in April, the iPad 2 is rumoured to include a new design, stronger build quality, front and rear cameras, SD card slots, a faster processor, and possibly a better screen.

Given LG’s push for a 3D tablet this year, there’s even some speculation that Apple may include a 3D-capable screen in this next iPad.

Apple hasn’t sent out official invitations to this launch, but given that March 2 is just around the corner, we can’t image they’d be far off if this rumour is true.

UPDATE: The event is on, and it looks like GadgetGuy’s Peter Blasina and Valens Quinn will be making their way to San Francisco to report live!
