Apple to launch an ultra-thin 15 inch MacBook Pro mid-2012?

If the rumours we’re seeing today are true, Apple could have a thin and light 15 inch notebook by June next year.

Expected to be either a MacBook Air with a 15 inch screen or a thinner and lighter MacBook Pro, rumours are suggesting that Apple will be ditching the optical drive and going for lighter components in a new laptop.

At the moment, all ultrabooks use either an 11.6 or 13.3 inch screen, with not a single model in the category adopting a 15.6 inch screen.

We’ve heard rumblings that both Acer and Asus could change that shortly, but with the success of the MacBook Air, we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple tried its hand at an ultrabook with a bigger screen either.
