Samsung Electronics Australia today announced that the Galaxy Gear smart watch will have an Australian RRP of $369.
Pre-orders will begin tomorrow at Samsung stores from 2PM and the watch will be available for purchase at selected retailers on Thursday October 3rd, and come in a range of six colours including Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold, and Lime Green (colour availability may vary by retailer).
The Galaxy Gear smart watch is paired to the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, or ‘phablet’ device. The Note 3 features a new 5.7 inch full HD display, a ‘leather-like’ case finish and expanded functionality via its stylus-based interface.
The Galaxy Note 3 will also officially go on sale on Thursday the 3rd of October with Australian pricing now set at $999.
The Note 3 is currently the only ‘companion’ device for the smart watch, but Samsung Australia’s Tyler McGee, Vice President – Telecommunications, said that the Galaxy Gear will also pair with existing Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Note II during the lead up to Christmas via a downloadable software patch.
Like the Galaxy Gear, the Galaxy Note 3 will be available for pre-sale purchase from Wednesday 18th September (2pm) from the Samsung Experience Stores in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as Optus and Vodafone.
It will be also available for pre-sale purchase from Thursday 26th September at Virgin Mobile. Telstra customers can register their interest via the Telstra website. More information on carrier pricing and plans will be provided by Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile soon.
