Bowers & Wilkins has just released the much anticipated and most powerful subwoofer in the 600 Series, the ASW610XP. The new subwoofer will be available to deliver the finishing touch – or is that punch – to home theatre systems. With the release of the ASW610XP, the long-awaited, flagship Bowers & Wilkins 683 Theatre is now complete.
You might think that seeing a movie at home can never compare to seeing it at the cinema. Well, that’s what the Bowers & Wilkins 683 Theatre is here for: to bring the big screen sound experience into your home. Prepare yourself for the big movie experience, fronted by a pair of uncompromising 683 floorstanding speakers and the HTM61 centre channel. A pair of wall-mounted DS3 surround speakers provides an all-enveloping effect of sound from the rear positions, and, if there’s a scene with a helicopter landing, the ASW610XP subwoofer (pictured below) will let you know about it.
The serious bass of the ASW610XP is developed in a compact cabinet thanks to the unit’s 500W amplifier and dual voice coil, long-throw 250mm driver. Equipped with audiophile-standard Class D circuitry, the unit remains cool and efficient under pressure. Like all 600 & 700 Series subwoofers, the bass driver diaphragm features B&W’s ‘mushroom’ construction and a cone with a rugged, finely-tuned mix of paper pulp, Kevlar fibres and resin. This provides the stiffness needed to withstand the tremendous physical forces exerted by the voice coil and pressures inside the cabinet.

The ASW610XP utilises a sealed-box design for unrivalled control and smooth extended frequency response with a -6dB point of 18 Hz, remarkable for a unit of such compact dimensions – just 325 x 325 x 375 mm.
