Breville espresso machine secures Good Design accolade in the US

 

Brevillees BES400 Ikon espresso maker has secured a prestigious design award in the US called the 2006 Good Design Award. Organised by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, the competition acknowledges industrial design firms and manufacturers in more than 25 countries on criteria such as innovation, form, materials, construction, concept, function, utility and product aesthetic.

The Ikon espresso machine combines a stainless steel boiler system with an electronic temperature function, which Breville claims has only available previously been available in commercial machines.

The Breville BES400 ($399.95 RRP) features an Italian designed 15 bar pump and stainless steel boiler heating system that ensures water is heated and maintained at the optimum temperature for maximum extraction of coffee flavour; dual wall crema system; commercial size swivel steam wand including a frothing attachment to froth and steam milk for cafe style cappuccino plus an eject filter system: one and two cup filters can be removed by pressing the eject button for quick release.

It also features a removable two litre water tank, extra large cup height thatts ideal for coffee mugs, stainless steel design and a 12 month replacement guarantee.
