Buffalo bets big on bifold with Thunderbolt and USB 3.0

Got a brand new Mac sporting USB 3.0? What about an old one with Thunderbolt? No matter what you have, PC or Mac, Buffalo is offering a hard drive solution, with the two fastest consumer connectors out there in the same product.

Buffalo’s MiniStation Thunderbolt pairs the 5Gbps USB 3.0 maximum speed with Intel’s high-speed Thunderbolt connection offering a maximum of 10Gbps, to offer an external hard drive capable of connecting to either Mac OS X, Windows 7, or Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8.

“Collaborating with Intel to deliver the world’s first dual-interface Thunderbolt and USB storage solution reaffirms Buffalo’s pioneering spirit and engineering excellence,” said Buffalo Australia’s Boris Shen. “Making this device terrific value, it ships with a Thunderbolt cable which can cost up to $50 when sold separately.”

Pricing comes in at $279 RRP for 500GB pr $329 for 1TB, with availability in August across the country.
