Canon PowerShot A480 digital camera – slim and easy to use

Canon Australia today announced a replacement to its extremely popular PowerShot A470 digital compact camera. The new PowerShot A480 boasts a slimmer, more compact design while continuing to pack all the features that consumers have come to expect from an entry-level PowerShot camera, and more!

The PowerShot A480 has a slim body for easy portability to ensure that it is never left behind. Available in four different colours – silver, black, red and blue – there is one to suit everyone. While the new PowerShot A480 is slimmer, it continues to retain the durable, solid nature that the PowerShot range is known for, making it the perfect camera for first-time users and families with children of all ages.

Ease-of-use

Capturing family moments is easy with the PowerShot A480’s simple operation and interface. The menu and navigation buttons have been simplified and made more intuitive and the camera’s slim and solid body makes it easy to hold.

Featuring 15 scene modes, from Automatic to Special Scene, the new PowerShot A480 enables users to select the right mode for their photographic scene – such as Portrait, Beach or Kids and Pets – making it simple to shoot great pictures in any situation.

The user friendly interface also includes a 2.5 inch LCD monitor, making it easy to shoot and view images.

Image processing technology

Regardless of a user’s experience, the PowerShot A480 captures amazing shots every time. The new model boasts Canon’s DiG!C III image processor and a 10 megapixel CCD (compared to its predecessor’s 7.1 megapixels) allowing users to enjoy even higher-quality photos.

The new model retains Canon’s innovative Motion Detection and Face Detection technology. Designed for analysing motion information to determine whether or not a subject is moving, Motion Detection technology easily controls blurring to produce clearer images.

The inclusion of Canon’s Face Detection technology helps to make shooting portrait photos a breeze by distinguishing human faces in each shot and adjusting the focus and exposure for best results. Canon’s in-camera Red Eye Correction ensures that portraits look natural and are not ruined by red eyes.

The PowerShot A480 incorporates a new unique feature, an Image Inspection Tool. This allows users to zoom in on different parts of their shot, such as faces, to check the focusing position and expressions.

The inclusion of a 3.3x Optical Zoom Lens allows users to frame great shots and zoom in to their subject.
