Canon Australia have announced four new IXUS digital cameras. The new models are:
- IXUS 990 IS
- IXUS 110 IS
- IXUS 100 IS
- IXUS 95 IS
All four new IXUS cameras incorporate the exciting new Canon Intelligent Auto technology. Intelligent Auto combines a new Scene Detection with Canon’s advanced Face Detection, Motion Detection and Noise Reduction technologies all in one automatic mode to ensure that users can easily capture clear, clean shots every time.
The new Scene Detection technology makes capturing stunning shots easy by automatically detecting people, distance, brightness, colour and movement information to determine the shooting scene, such as Portrait, Night, Macro, Backlit or even Sunset. The technology then carries out the optimum image processing for that scene, ensuring superior quality images.
IXUS 990 IS
The IXUS 990 IS sits at the top of the IXUS digital camera range. This is the camera for those who want the best of the best, incorporating advanced technologies and a range of creative options into a small, compact design.
Featuring a 5x Optical Zoom lens (the largest zoom in the range), Optical Image Stabilizer and a huge 12.1 megapixel image sensor, this camera will bring users closer to the action and ensure images are razor-sharp.
For the first time in the IXUS range, the IXUS 990 IS offers users the opportunity to capture their experiences and social outings on High Definition video. The camera offers High Definition 1280 x 720 movie recording, promising amazing output on HD screens so users can relive and share their fun experiences in the utmost detail.
The IXUS 990 IS also includes a new innovative Canon technology, Blink Detection. This feature identifies when a person has blinked in a photograph and displays a warning symbol for three seconds on the screen, providing users with the opportunity to take the shot again and capture that perfect image.
Another fun, new feature from Canon is Active Display. When viewing photos, IXUS 990 IS users can conveniently swap from picture to picture with just a shake of their hand. This coupled with the largest screen in the IXUS range – a huge 3-inch LCD – makes sharing images with friends that much more fun and easy. There is also an array of creative options for the user such as Zoom Blur and Creative Lighting effects.
IXUS 110 IS
The Canon IXUS 110 IS digital camera is the new IXUS flagship model, incorporating an array of notable features. The 28mm wide-angle, 4 x Optical Zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilizer is sure to impress users who want to fit more in their photos – great for capturing fun group shots, stunning landscapes and expansive panoramas with the utmost detail.
The IXUS 110 IS includes the capability to record video in 1280 x 720 High Definition format and sports a 2.8-inch widescreen LCD, allowing images and video to be captured in a 16:9 aspect ratio for faithful reproduction on a HD widescreen TV.
The IXUS 110 IS shows off a new fresh look with a sleek design, a simplified, intuitive user interface and an array of colours, including gold, silver, pink and blue.
The camera also offers the new Active Display and Blink Detection technologies that the IXUS 990 IS features as well as a 12.1 megapixel sensor.
IXUS 100 IS
The IXUS 100 IS is perfect for those out and about with friends and who want to turn heads with the ultimate fashion accessory. Featuring the slimmest body in the IXUS series, measuring just 18.4mm in width, the camera is versatile and compact. This combined with striking colours – black, silver, gold and a deep red – produces a modern, cutting-edge look.
Similar to the IXUS 990 IS and 110 IS, this new model also features High Definition 1280 x 720 movie recording, as well as Blink Detection technology.
The IXUS 100 IS also incorporates a 12.1 megapixel sensor and 3x Optical Zoom lens.
IXUS 95 IS
The IXUS 95 IS makes it easy to capture life-like images in your own personal style. Available in a variety of fun and funky colours – lime green, hot pink, aqua blue, steel grey and silver – and featuring Canon’s new Intelligent Auto, just point and shoot for great images on the go.
Featuring a 10.0 megapixel sensor and 3x Optical Zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilizer.
Pricing and availability
The Canon IXUS 990 IS will be available from April 2009 and the IXUS 110 IS, IXUS 100 IS and IXUS 95 IS will be available from March 2009.
Pricing on all new models will not be available until closer to the release date.
