Canon’s Super Zoom SX series welcomes two new members to its range – the PowerShot SX10 IS and the flagship SX1 IS. These new digital cameras are compact in design and feature enhanced super zoom performance in tandem with new technologies from Canon.
A first for Canon digital compact cameras, the two models both feature an impressive 20x wide zoom lens with Optical Image Stabiliser along with Canon’s newly developed DiG!C 4 Image Processor. Enthusiast photographers will enjoy getting closer to the action without compromising on image quality. Another milestone for Canon is the inclusion of a CMOS sensor with Full HD movie recording in the SX1 IS, ensuring highly detailed images and high definition movies.
Enhanced image quality with DiG!C 4
Building on DiG!C III’s high-speed rendering of fine detail and natural colour reproduction, DiG!C 4 provides even faster processing for photographing friends and family in any situation. DiG!C 4 incorporates improved Face Detection including Face Detect Self Timer, Motion Detection technologies and new features including Servo AF and Intelligent Contrast Correction. A new movie function also allows longer movie recording using less memory.
The CMOS sensor of the SX1 IS
A first for Canon digital compact cameras, the PowerShot SX1 IS features a CMOS sensor as seen in Canon’s EOS models. By incorporating a CMOS sensor into the design, it allows faster capture and processing to help users shoot higher quality images at fast speeds.
With the CMOS sensor and new DiG!C 4 image processor, Full HD movies (1920×1080) are now possible. High quality stereo sound, 16:9 aspect ratio and HDMI output allows users to share their high definition images and videos with friends and family without compromising quality.
SX10 IS and SX1 IS – telephoto zoom and wide angle lens
Both models feature super telephoto photography with a 20x wide optical zoom lens, the most powerful zoom (28-560mm) available in the Canon digital compact camera range. The power of telephoto photography in a compact body is perfect for those capturing their photo travel diary or for sports enthusiasts who want to get closer to the action. Coupled with a high precision Optical Image Stabiliser, users can capture steady shots even at super high zoom.
Photographers can challenge their creativity with 24 different shooting modes, from manual shooting to special scene modes that can be selected according to the scene. Further encouraging a user’s creativity, both new digital cameras feature a vari-angle LCD that makes shooting at difficult angles easy.
An AF Continuous Shooting function is also included and enables fast focus during continuous shooting, so every shot is crisp and clear. These bold cameras are reminiscent of a digital SLR camera except housed in a more compact body.
