Centre of the action – the Denon AVR-2807 AV receiver

 

With HDMI connectivity and high definition 1080p support, the Denon AVR-2807 is equipped to handle the full video resolution of HDTV broadcasts, Blu-ray and PS3 sources, making it the most future-proof AV receiver on the market, according to Denon. Its upconversion feature transforms analog 576i video to the higher quality 576p format and allows it to be exported via a single HDMI cable to a HDMI- or DVI-equipped flat panel TV or projector; power is rated at 7 x 110 watts; all major surround formats (including EX and ES standards) are supported, plus there is a handy automatic setup feature and a multi-zone facility for running sound in two rooms at once.

The AVR-2807 ($2200) is also compatible with Denonns ASD-1R iPod control dock. This allows the iPod to be controlled with the AV receiverrs remote, and for photos and video stored on the iPod to be sent to a connected TV. Five adaptors are provided for connecting viritually all dockable iPods, including the Nano. It costs $200.
