Wi-Fi AX is the next super-fast standard as D-link jumps straight from AC and skips the interim AD. It also showed off Google Assitant integration, new whole of home mesh Wi-Fi, a McAfee protected router and a growing mydlink smart home ecosystem.
The new DIR-X6060 (dual BAND UP TO 6,000 Mb/s) and DIR-X9000 11AX (tri-band up to 11,00 Mb/s US site here ) Ultra Wi-Fi Routers offer premium performance for multiple devices in dense environments. They have improved coverage and 4x more capacity than Wi-Fi AC.
With a 1.8GHz quad-core processor for higher network speed, they are the ultimate routers for simultaneous HD and 4K streaming, VR, gaming, and cloud/remote storage.
4×4 MU-MIMO allows more users to perform even more data-intensive tasks on more devices with less network congestion. With BSS Colouring and OFDMA, the routers deliver more efficient networking for extreme home networks, especially in device-dense environments. The routers can be set up and managed with the D-Link Wi-Fi app.
GadgetGuy’s take: More speed my precious! At last with NBN offering 100/40 Mb/s and many smart homes now having 20 or more devices we have reached the limit of AC routers.
Covr whole home Wi-Fi solutions
D-Link also announced its next-generation Covr whole home Wi-Fi solutions powered by the Qualcomm Mesh Networking Platform.
The Covr Dual Band Whole Home Wi-Fi System (COVR-C1203) brings whole home network coverage within reach of more consumers due to its affordable price. It is the first mesh system with swappable covers in different colours.
The Covr Tri Band Whole Home Wi-Fi System (COVR-2202) was selected as a CES 2018 Innovation Awards Honoree. It delivers powerful performance and speed, and its smart backhaul feature uses smart antennas to automatically optimise backhaul signal between the Covr Points for a more reliable connection.
Both Covr Whole Home Wi-Fi Systems feature Smart Roaming, Smart Steering, and seamless connection for homes of any size and on multiple devices simultaneously. The solutions are also scalable, as users can add extra Covr Points depending on their individual needs. Setup and management are simple with the D-Link Wi-Fi app.
D-Link and McAfee team up to protect home networks
D-Link and McAfee announced the D-Link AC2600 Wi-Fi Router Powered by McAfee (DIR-2680), an all-in-one solution that automatically increases security for devices on the home network and delivers on both companies’ vision to address the pressing need for online security as people’s lives become increasingly connected.
The router runs McAfee’s Secure Home Platform that automatically protects all devices connected to the network, and uses the Intel Home Wi-Fi Chipset WAV500 Series to deliver robust Wi-Fi connectivity to numerous connected devices at the same time, running a range of high-bandwidth applications.
“We’re on the forefront of preventing and fighting cybercrime as consumers need to feel safe and protected as cyber threats continue to rise,” said John Giamatteo, executive vice president, consumer business group, McAfee. “Our partnership with D-Link helps consumers benefit from both increased connectivity and peace of mind knowing that their connected devices are protected.”
“As the number of connected devices in homes increases, consumers are increasingly concerned about online security threats. D-Link teamed up with McAfee and Intel to address these concerns with a powerful, easy to manage, all-in-one solution,” said Graeme Reardon, D-Link ANZ MD. “The new AC2600 Wi-Fi Router Powered by McAfee is our solution for consumers to help protect their homes and children from evolving online threats.”
Mydlink ecosystem grows
D-Link showcased the new mydlink Connected Home Ecosystem with new products and the new mydlink app. Products include the CES 2018 Innovation Awards Honoree DCS-1820LM 4G/LTE Outdoor Camera, as well as other new smart cameras, smart plugs, and a water sensor.
