Dell’s 27 XPS is an Ivy Bridge packing all-in-one

Dell’s latest addition to its lineup of computers is an all-in-one sporting a big 27 inch widescreen display and the latest chips from Intel.

Available from today onwards, the new 27 inch machine neatly named “XPS One 27” will arrive with Intel’s latest generation of Core i5 or i7 quad-core processors, running on the new Ivy Bridge technology.

By default, you get Intel’s latest generation HD4000 graphics technology, but you can upgrade to an Nvidia GeForce GT640M with 2GB RAM.

One terabyte of storage is included in the initial model, but you can upgrade this to two, and the four gigs of RAM can likewise be moved to an excellent eight, which should prove useful for the people interested in tackling graphics and multimedia work, as well as the odd game or two.

The screen features a massive 2560×1440 resolution, although isn’t a touchscreen, so you’ll still be relying on the good old fashioned keyboard and mouse.

A slot loading DVD drive is also included, as is a Full HD webcam with dual microphone array, speakers, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, four USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0, HDMI, card reader, and the usual selection of headphone and microphone ports, plus Windows Home 7 Premium.

“Our XPS all-in-one is a stunning system that is the centrepiece of any room,” said Dell’s Sam Burd. “It delivers a captivating user experience that will inspire our customers to create their best work and consume all the content they love.”

Dell’s 27 inch desktop is available online from a $1,699 RRP starting price.
