Epson adds the iPod dock to a projector

A new projector from Epson aims to make it easy to show your videos, photos, and presentations with an iPod dock built directly into the unit.

The new Epson MG-850HD projector delivers brightness at 2800 lumens using 3LCD technology, a 3000:1 contrast ratio, and up to 1280×800 WXGA resolution.

Connectivity options include HDMI and VGA inputs, and Epson tells us it’s compatible with every current gaming console, making big screen gaming possible. A USB connection has also been thrown in with plug and play support, allowing both PC and Mac users to plug in and show slideshows over USB. New to an Epson projector is the iPod dock, allowing the iPod, iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad to project without any extra cables.

“This is the ideal companion for the on-the-move digital lifestyle, allowing anyone to share multimedia content from Apple devices and a wide assortment of other portable content sources,” said Bruce Bealby, Business Manager Visual Imaging for Epson Australia. “With its high-quality images and sound, versatility and portability, professionals and home users just place their iPad, iPhone or iPod in the retractable dock, click and immediately share multimedia content on a big screen wherever they may be.”

The Epson MG-850HD should be arriving in stores shortly for a recommended retail price of $1199.
