Go 2, Clip 3 and Extreme 2 added to JBL portable Bluetooth speaker range

JBL Portable Bluetooth speaker

There are now 16 different speakers in the JBL portable Bluetooth speaker range including three OK Google voice-controlled LINK speakers. GadgetGuy has become quite a fan of the JBL sound signature.

No, JBL does not sound for ‘Just Bloody Loud’. Its native sound signature is a warm and sweet (bass/mids boosted, treble recessed). What that means is fatigue free listening, warm upper-bass, solid-mids, and little treble harshness.

It is the native signature many brands try to achieve (but usually fail) especially from a portable speaker or headphones where software EQ is not available.

GadgetGuy has not yet reviewed the new Go 2, Clip 3 and Extreme 2 speakers. But based on JBL experience this should be their signature too. Something that is not easy to do in a portable speaker, much less a waterproof one.

Sound Signature 101

Surprisingly there are only six native sound signatures

  1. Analytical: (bass/mids recessed, treble boosted)
  2. Balanced: (bass boosted, mids recessed, treble boosted)
  3. Bass: (bass boosted, mids/treble recessed)
  4. Mid: (bass recessed, mids boosted, treble recessed)
  5. Warm and Sweet (bass/mids boosted, treble recessed)
  6. Bright Vocal (bass recessed, mids/treble boosted)
