Telstra customers can pre-order the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL starting today. As a bonus gift, and while stocks last, Telstra will throw in the recently launched Google Home Mini with each purchase. We’re expecting the Pixel 2 go to on sale October 31.
The Google Home Mini is a smart speaker equipped with Google Assistant that can be placed throughout your home to play music or ask questions. For more, see this post.
Both smartphones are available on Telstra’s new Go Mobile Swap and Go Mobile Plus plans. Small business customers will be able to take up the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL on My Business Mobile and My Business Mobile Lease plans.
The Pixel 2 is Google’s latest iteration of its own branded smartphone, and runs the latest ‘Oreo 8.0’ Android operating system. New features include an improved camera, faster processing, new screen sizes using AMOLED and OLED technology, water and dust resistance and an ‘Active Edge’ which senses when the device is squeezed to trigger an action. We’ll be running a full review shortly, so watch this space.
As Telstra is Google’s exclusive telco partner, you won’t be able to find the Pixel 2 at other telcos. However, the devices will include Telstra Wi-Fi Calling support, which extends basic voice calls to supported Wi-Fi networks, such as in a home or apartment, for when you lose 4G coverage.
