GR-X5

The GR-X5 is JVC?s first compact 3CCD camera but unlike most budget 3CCD models, this features three larger 0.22-inch CCD sensors. We found the cube-like design a little awkward to hold as you have to curl your fingers around to operate some controls. There?s no viewfinder, instead you flip and rotate the 2.5-inch LCD screen back on itself but this also means it chews through batteries faster so a spare is a must. The X5?s video quality is remarkably good with sharp images exhibiting little visual noise. And although it only has 1.23MP per CCD to capture still images, it can churn out 5MP (2560×1920-pixel) stills on SD card.

At $2399, it?s pricey compared to Panasonic?s GS75 and GS150 models but the video quality is worth it.
