Harman Kardon’s new HK 3490 stereo receiver

Harman Kardon has announced the introduction of the all new HK 3490 stereo receiver available in Australian from July 2008. The stereo receiver combines superlative sound quality with flexible operation, including video switching for use in home entertainment systems, and iPod and portable music player connectivity. In addition, the stereo receiver features the company’s newly-introduced, stunning and distinctive industrial design, with an elegant, minimalist appearance, and gracefully rounded corners, a gloss-black top panel and dark graphite lower panel, all accented by soft white illumination.

The HK 3490 incorporates powerful high current, ultrawide-bandwidth amplifier featuring selected discreet high-powered output devices. Audiophile specifications include; 2 x 120 watts RMS into 8 ohms, 20Hz – 20kHz, <0.07% THD and the HK 3490 provides video as well as digital and analog audio connections to accommodate a variety of program sources, including a legacy turntable input.

In keeping with today’s digital world requirements the new HK 3490 stereo receiver features two digital audio inputs (one coaxial and one digital) to listen to sources with digital audio outputs and additionally offers iPod/iPhone* (not included) audio and video connectivity using The Bridge II docking station (sold separately). The HK 3490 also provides Dolby® Virtual Speaker and Dolby Headphone processing to deliver surround-sound audio from a pair of loudspeakers or headphones.

Price and availability

The HK 3490 stereo receiver will be available from July 2008 at the recommended retail price of $799.
