Hoorah for Huawei – three months protection on premium screens

Well, we here at gadgetguy.com hope that Huawei’s promise might prompt some other phone makers to emulate it? The promise? A free replacement screen if you break one on a premium Huawei phone in its first three months.

Those phones are the forthcoming Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus, both of which sport Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and the Huawei Mate 9 (Gorilla Glass 3) which we reviewed last week.

Owners only get one crack (sorry) at it. Huawei will only replace it the first time you break it and it’ll be up to the owner to pay thereafter if they continue to be fumble-fingered.

Still, there is no one hundred per cent protection for a phone, whether a case or an offer of a free replacement screen. All you can do is reduce the odds of catastrophic damage. Dropping the phone once is a much higher probability event than doing it twice.

So good on Huawei.

The Huawei Mate 9 is presently available for sale ($999.99). The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus will be available from 25 May for $899 and $1099 respectively.
