HP has a history in working with companies that love sound, and now that Beats is owned by Apple, it obviously needs a new partner, which is why it is turning to sound innovators B&O.
The two letter company known as “HP” that was formerly known as Hewlett Packard may as well stand for “HiFi Performance” this week as the American computer company HP has announced that it will begin working with Danish audio designers Bang & Olufsen, with B&O to bring its expertise in sound to computers, tablets, and accessories.
“Audio plays an important role in the experience customers have on their PCs, tablets and accessories whether it’s watching a movie, listening to music or Skyping with friends and family,” said Paul Gracey, Business Manager in the Personal Systems Category at HP South Pacific.
“With their passion and expertise, we are thrilled to work with Bang & Olufsen to create exceptional sound experiences for customers.”
From what we understand, HP’s integration of the B&O brand will mean specially tuned audio on HP computers, with apparently an isolated audio circuit from the other signals present on the mother board, while the headphone jack will pull back on the amount of metal parts to reduce ground noise.
Further, HP sends word that there will be an audio control panel on the computer with present configurations designed by HP and Bang & Olufsen to tune the audio quickly, with manual tuning also offered.
“Bang & Olufsen and B&O Play have a long heritage in delivering great music and audio experiences for people no matter where they decide to enjoy their media,” said Tue Mantoni, CEO of Bang & Olufsen.
“We are excited to collaborate with HP to bring our iconic sound to HP PCs.”
The collaboration could well result in some very good sound for laptops, desktops, and tablets, with Bang & Olufsen tech appearing on the Spectre, Omen, and Envy range of computers, while the B&O Play brand will appear on Pavilion PCs, tablets, and PC audio accessories likely including a Bluetooth speaker or two, and possibly some headphones.
Availability of these B&O-infused gadgets will be from May, though, so look out for more on these computers shortly.
