HP to bring its iPad competition to Australia

One of the world’s biggest manufacturers of computers hasn’t entered the Australian tablet marketplace yet with anything that can compete against the iPad, but that could change very soon.

HP will be showing its TouchPad next week, giving us a taste of what the company plans to release in Australia later this year. Based off of technology created by Palm, the TouchPad puts together a 9.7 inch multitouch display with webOS, a new operating system that offers support for Flash, email, social networking, and its own apps.

We’ll be curious to see if HP will re-enter the local phone market with the webOS-powered smartphones released in America alongside the TouchPad.
