Every technology company is thinking green these days, and a new experimental computer processor from Intel really takes that concept to new heights.
Shown this week at Intel’s Developer Forum in San Francisco, the “Near Threshold Voltage Processor” is an experimental Intel CPU that can run off the energy picked up by a solar cell the size of a postage stamp.
It’s not the first time computer manufacturers have experimented with solar computing, with Samsung playing with the idea in a netbook that wasn’t released in Australia.
While the eco-friendly CPU is still a long way off, it’s certainly a good sign of things to come.
