iPhone 5 rumour suggests mid-2012 release

It’s February, so that means it’s probably time to start up the rumour mill for Apple products, with the first real rumour of the year suggesting a June announcement for the next iPhone.

It should come as no surprise to regular readers that Apple might be looking at a mid-year announcement for the iPhone 5. Apple iPhone announcements have typically been made in the middle of the year, usually during Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC).

The only exception to this was Apple’s most recent revision of the smartphone – the iPhone 4S – which was announced in October 2011.

Current rumours about the next iPhone suggest that the phone will feature a 4 inch screen, a new aluminium casing to replace the glass backing, and a faster processor inside.

With Apple’s WWDC scheduled for June 10-15 this year, we guess we’ll have to wait until then to find out.
