Laser Qi Wireless 10000mAh Power Bank (PB-10KWC-BLK)

Laser Qi Wireless 10000mAh Power Bank

The new Laser Qi Wireless 1000mAh Power Bank is one of the smaller/lighter 10000mAh power banks with the added advantage of a 5W Qi charge pad.

Now, power banks don’t generally excite us – unless they are ‘hulking big 20000mAh or more’ but this no-nonsense power bank appeals as its quite small and light (145 x 74 x 18mm x 220g) and backed by Laser’s R&D, so you know it will work. Read the review and tests and see why it is almost perfect.

We said it is no-nonsense – that is a compliment.

  • $69.95 or about half a cent per mAh – that is real value.
  • Eschews fancy USB-C PD 2.0 or 3.0 electronics for standard USB-C PD 1.0 – 5V/3A (15W) that will charge anything safely.
  • USB-A 5V/2.1A output
  • 5V/1A (5W) Qi Charge pad
  • Charging is via either USB-C (5V/2.4A but you can use any USB-C PD charger) or micro-USB (up to 5V/2.4A).

And safety is very much at the forfront. It has protection for temperature, short circuit, and input and output over-voltage and auto cut-out. It is perfectly safe to use on a plane, train, or automobile.

For convenience, it comes with a USB-A to multi USB-C, micro-USB, and Lightning cable.

Qi charge pad

5W is the standard – it is a slow charge meant for a full overnight charge or simply for top-ups. With the intelligent overcharge protection, you can leave a phone on there, and it will not hurt the batteries.

You can also get this without the Qi for $49.95.

GadgetGuy’s take – Laser Qi Wireless 10000mAh Power bank is powerful and light

When I was weighing the power bank, I noticed that it was 220g, so I got out my trusty 10000mAh (brand withheld), and it was 360g. Even a 5000mAh was heavier at 244g.

How Laser does this is no secret. Most 10000mAh power banks use a set of four 18650 (18mm x 65mm) 2500mAh batteries. New Lithium-Polymer batteries pack 20% more power (approx) into each allowing the diameter to reduce to 14 or 16mm. Sure it costs a bit more but to save 140g ( 5 ounces) weight makes it worthwhile.

We are rating it as a standard no-frills power bank with Qi benefits. If you need a USB-C PD 3.0 rated power bank (e.g. 5V/3A, 9V/3A,12V/3A, 14.5V/2.4A, 20V/2A 40W output) the Laser 20000mAH USB-C PD is now $90 (as $129).
