Logitech Webcams are like hen’s teeth

Logitech Webcams

Ever since the world went crazy and we all had to WFH (work from home) one of the most highly sought-after items are Logitech Webcams. They are out of stock in, oh so many places.

Why? Because the typical notebook webcam is 720p, gives you a massive double chin, a fat face (the camera does add 10 pounds) and the mics are average. Logitech Webcams solve all that and more.

At the top end of Logitech Webcams is the Brio Ultra HD Pro Webcam (website here and our review is here)

It gives true 4K resolution (4096×2160@30fps) as well as scalable 1080p@30/60fps and 720p@30/60/90fps.

Don’t be concerned that 4K will overload the internet. What is does is record a data stream that is rich in details, supports HDR (details in shady or bright areas) and well – the rest is up to the videoconferencing program to sort out.

The trick to this camera (and there are many tricks) is that it can mount on top of your monitor, so it is looking down at you making your face slimmer and eliminating that double chin. Unless of course, you have a chrome dome then you may want to mount it on a tripod at mid-face height.

But there is more. The dual Omni-directional mics with noise cancellation are far better than those you find on a notebook (so you come across clearly). It has a far better field of view (FOV Diagonal: 90°/Horizontal: 82.1°/Vertical: 52.2°), so you can get a few people in the shot.

Check out the difference in FOV here

If you use it in FHD 1080 mode, the camera app can digitally zoom, pan and tilt. It connects to USB-A or USB-C, 3.0 or later. Windows users will love its Windows Hello IR camera as well for facial logins.
