Making your PC charge your iPad

If you ended up buying an iPad on launch day last Friday – and we know there’s a fair few of you – chances are you went home and thought that you might be able to charge your iPad from your desktop or notebook.

You quickly found out you were wrong as the USB port on your computer just didn’t supply enough of a charge for your delightful new gadget.

Luckily, a few companies have jumped onto this and have come up with a solution.

MSI, Gigabyte, and Asus have all released patches for their computers allowing USB ports to push out the required charge with minimal fuss. While the software won’t run on every computer from those companies, we’re told the range is good enough to accommodate most users who have purchased a computer within the last year or two.
