Google has announced it will merge Android Pay and Google Wallet into Google Pay – G Pay. It is already in Australia.
Pali Bhat, VP of Product Management, Payments at Google says in his blog, “With Google Pay, it’ll be easier for you to use the payment information saved to your Google Account, so you can speed through checkout with peace of mind. Over the coming weeks, you’ll see Google Pay online, in store, and across Google products, as well as when you’re paying friends.”
Given Google’s advertising power you are going to see the G Pay logo on more online and card payment machines. It says that it improves conversion rates and enables advertising reach at ‘Google scale’.
It uses information already saved as part of the Google Account and Play Store access so all you need is to verify bank account details to enable it.
