The popular Motorola g8-series gets two new models – the g8 and g8 power lite joining its G8 PLUS that GadgetGuy gave 5/5 in a recent review. And its e-series gets a new value model , the e6s.
We said at that time that Motorola is changing under Lenovo’s stewardship. The Motorola g8-series are a definite attempt to polish and build on its reliable, staid reputation as a phone sold at Officeworks and as an excellent fleet phone.
That is not a backhanded compliment. It is testament to the fact that people want a good, honest, reliable mid-range phone – the daily drive and the g8-series fits that definition exceptionally well.
We have the g8 for review – expect it soon.
- g8: $329, available from 28 May at JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, The Good Guys
- g8 power lite: $279, available in June at Officeworks, The Good Guys
- e6s: $199, available in June at Officeworks, The Good Guys, Big W
Let’s compare the Motorola g8-series specs
What you will see is the good, better best syndrome with specs commensurate with the price. The g8 looks like the sweet spot with a Qualcomm SD665 and a respectable camera, but we repeat that the g8 PLUS is the class leader and even more so at $449 (down from $499).
