Nespresso, the worldwide pioneer and market leader in highest-quality portioned coffee, is bringing the ultimate in taste to coffee aficionados this spring, with the launch of its new 2008 Special Club Grand Cru, Jinogalpa.
Available exclusively for a limited time, Jinogalpa is a rare blend, selected for both its exotic character and its exclusive origin in the mountainous, volcanic regions of Matagalpa and Jinotega, Nicaragua – home to some of the world’s finest coffee plantations. With a generous body and smooth crema, it embodies soft hints of sandalwood aromas, balanced by subtle and refreshing herbal notes.
Over 70 percent of Nicaraguan coffee is cultivated in the shade to delay the coffee cherry ripening, and to produce a blend of high intensity and rich body. The beans are then naturally sun dried to allow the finer characteristics to flourish, delivering an even higher quality coffee.
In addition to developing this intense flavour, shade grown practices also help to sustain ecosystems in the region. Shade grown coffee requires little or no chemical fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides. The shade trees also help filter harmful carbon dioxide and aid in soil moisture retention to minimise erosion. As with all Nespresso coffees, the AAA Sustainable Qualityâ„¢ Program ensures farming practices respect the environment, resulting in the highest quality beans and economic viability for coffee farming communities.
At the heart of Nespresso’s reputation for quality lies the unique Nespresso Trilogy: the portioned Grands Crus in hermetically-sealed capsules, a full range of smart and stylish coffee machines, and unmatched personalised services at the Nespresso Club.
Jinogalpa is a Special Club coffee – a blend with limited availability, which is an exciting addition to Nespresso’s choice of 12 premium quality roast and ground Grand Cru coffees. It is on sale from September 22, 2008.
