Nintendo set to show new console at E3 this year

Tired of your Wii? Nintendo looks to be moving on, with a new console set to be shown at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo.

The new console will officially arrive sometime in 2012, six years since the motion-sensitive Wii gaming system made its debut in the back half of 2006.

Little is known about the new console, short of the name “Project Cafe”. Rumours for Nintendo’s new console suggest HD graphics, a controller with a built-in screen, and backwards compatibility with Wii titles.

Whatever it is, we’ll be reporting on it in June when Nintendo shows it off for the first time.
