Nokia: choice of caped crusaders everywhere

What phone does Batman use? Apparently, the answer is a Nokia.

This week, Nokia’s official Twitter account previewed a new phone sure to get Batman fans in a frenzy, with the “Batman edition” of the Nokia Lumia 900.

As far as we can tell, there’s nothing spectacularly different about this version of the Lumia 900, except for the Batman logo printed on the back. You probably won’t get a special utility belt app or way of controlling your own Batmobile, if you have one.

A special box is also expected, as is a special price. And by “special price”, we actually mean “higher than normal price”.

Movie edition phones are a relatively rare occurrence these days, with only a few blockbuster titles ever managing to inspire sales and marketing teams enough to rebuild a handset specifically for a franchise.

When it has happened in the past, the handset has been known to come with special wallpapers, ringtones, and a specific colour that has something to do with the film.

Nokia Australia hasn’t yet said if this Batman phone will arrive in time for the Australian release of “The Dark Knight Rises” on July 19, or if it will even grace our shores at all, with Europe the only expected release location at the moment.
