Announced last week at Nokia World in Stuttgart was the Nokia N97 mini touchscreen mobile phone, a companion to the recently released N97. The mini refers to both size and memory. The N97 dimensions are 117.2 x 55.3 x 15.9 mm (L x W x H), while the N97 mini is 113 x 52.5 x 14.2 mm – not a big difference there. In memory though, the difference is substantial – the N97 has 32GB of on-board memory, the N97 mini ships with 8GB.
Also new from Nokia is Lifecasting with Ovi software, which allows you to publish status updates and your location direct from the handset to your Facebook account. Lifecasting with Ovi will be available as a free download from Nokia Beta Labs for both N97 and N97 owners in October.
The N97 mini’s A-GPS receiver will utilise Ovi Maps, not only for car and pedestrian navigation, but to tap into information from Lonely Planet, Michelin and Wcities, turning the N97 mini into a pretty useful traveller’s tool.
