Osprey opens the window to using tablets on backpacks

There’s no doubt that people love tablets, but most of us probably find it a little irritating having to take a tablet out of our hand luggage when we want to use it, but a bag maker has found another way.

The “Portal” from backpack maker Osprey is a new laptop friendly pack designed to make it easy to carry all manner of tech gadgets, with some of them even usable from inside the bag itself, so you don’t have to take them out.

The bags feature a laptop compartment, sunglasses pocket, sleeve for documents, and your typical zippered bag sections, while adopting breathable fabrics and a ventilated mesh back panel.

It also features a specialised window which Osprey calls the “Port,” which uses clear plastic in front of a tablet pouch so that you can use a tablet like an iPad or Galaxy Tab without removing it from the backpack.

The Osprey Portal series offering this starts at $109.95, and should be heading to stores within the next few weeks.
